OUR PROMISE
My name is Kahlique Quartell, and I’m the CEO of KQ. As a queer person, for a very long time, I’ve considered the closet to be my safe space, only to realize later that it was the clothes in the closet that made me feel the safest. There’s comfort in being able to express yourself, and our promise to the community is to continue to elevate our truth through fashion.
KQ is a queer-owned streetwear brand that promises to represent the queer community in every room we step in. By ensuring this promise, we will create products that can be comfortably worn to strut down runways, vogue in on summer nights, or just lay down on the beach and enjoy the sun. We will also strive for inclusivity throughout our website, campaigns, and more. Growing up, I would hardly ever find queer representation in stores, which made me feel alone at times. That will not be the case with KQ. Camp (over-the-top style) is the theme behind the majority of our products. We have a drive to create products that are show-stopping. At KQ, we’re not afraid to wear our pride on our sleeve—literally. Our pronouns will be told, our sexuality will be screamed, and our opinions will be exaggerated. At KQ, we’re not afraid.
We want to be a part of the difference! A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention for the LGBTQ+ community. The Trevor Project estimates that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ+ young people (ages 13-24) seriously consider suicide each year in the U.S.—and at least one attempts suicide every 45 seconds. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and celebrated. Join us on this journey, and let's make a bold statement for love, inclusivity, and pride.
